The kufiya — also known as the keffiyeh or hatta — is more than a scarf. It is a living symbol of Palestinian identity, woven into the fabric of daily life for centuries. Its distinctive geometric patterns tell stories of the land, the sea, and the olive groves of Palestine.
Today, Palestinian artisan families continue this ancient craft, weaving each kufiya by hand on traditional looms. But economic hardship has made it increasingly difficult for these families to sustain their livelihoods and pass their craft to the next generation.
